Engineering Computer Science

At Engineering, sustainability is one of our founding principles. By working in the field of digital transformation, we are contributing to the sustainable development of the world in which we live and work: from smart cities to smart agriculture, and from waste management to technology for combatting climate change.

Examples of our corporate social responsibility include Membership of the UN Global Compact, our focus on the objectives of the EU’s 2030 Climate Target Plan and the certification of our Environmental Management System in compliance with ISO 14001.

We have also been actively involved in protecting the planet for many years.

The green status of our data centre, our monitoring of our carbon footprint, our focus on sustainable mobility and our HQ’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification are just some examples of how we consider the environment to be something worth supporting and protecting.

The creation of the Engineering Food Forest

To celebrate Earth Day, Engineering has contributed to the planting of new trees in Partinico in the Italian province of Palermo. Various local tree species such as oranges, mandarins, olive trees and strawberry trees have been planted in a Food Forest that has been funded by money confiscated from organized crime.

Located in an area subject to desertification, the aim of the Food Forest is to avoid water waste and promote the regeneration of the soil’s natural wealth using agroecological practices. The project brings together tree species and annual crops such as grains and vegetables, along with aromatic plant species and shrubs. It promotes the development of biodiversity and creates a natural habitat that encourages pollinating insects.

The project’s other aim is to provide support to vulnerable people within the cooperative, young people in care or people with physical or mental disabilities and to create a positive impact on youth employment in the local area.
